Maral root (Rhaponticum carthamoides) The plant got its name from the maral deer, who eats it digging it out of the ground with their hooves. This plant is used as a raw materials for the preparation of medicines. The medicinal properties and contraindications of the maral root originate from its rich chemical composition. Tannins have anti-inflammatory effects, coumarins thin the blood, and inulin lowers blood sugar.
